Gilroy Healthcare Center-a 134 bed skilled nursing facility has a great therapy department with access to all of our ACP modalities, including 2 electrical stimulation units, ultrasound, and diathermy. ACP provides training every 3 months on different topics that are all certified as continuing education credits for PT/PTAs and OT/COTAs. We offer a variety of programs for our residents including: Pain Management, Edema Management, Continence Improvement, Fall Management, Wound Care Management and Contracture Management. We also provide training for our Low Vision Program and our Cognitive Specialty Program (based on the Claudia Allen Cognitive Program). Gilroy Healthcare is also unique in that we have a Respiratory Program with a very experience Respiratory Therapist. Our rehab department has very caring therapists that get along really well – we all do our best to have fun at work!

The Nuts & Bolts of the Job

Reporting to the Regional Manager, your responsibilities here will be broad in range; however, we’ve identified four major areas of focus:

Staff management and development

You will be responsible for the direct supervision and guidance of all the therapy personnel in your assigned facility(s), including licensed, registered, certified therapists, assistants, aides and students. This will include:
Approving time cards.
Ensuring that your team completes all clinical documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Conducting performance reviews.
Organizing orientation for new team members.
Mentoring your team and, where applicable, grooming them for advancement.

Operational

This is a “hands-on” management role, and you will spend a portion of your time partnering with your therapy team and treating residents. In addition, you will:
Schedule the department staff to meet the needs of the facility on a daily basis.
Complete billing documentation.
Coordinate claims management activities.
Participate in professional association committees, and in facility and company meetings.
Partner with the Regional Manager to formulate monthly, quarterly and annual budgetary goals.

Quality Monitoring

As perhaps the most critical area of focus, you will ensure that that the services delivered by your team are of the highest quality and meets all standards of practice. In addition, you will ensure that the:

Department follows the established policies and procedures of the facility and the company.
Rehabilitation needs of the residents are met.
Regulatory standards are adherence to as they pertain to the delivery of rehabilitation services.

Program development and enhancement

We place a strong emphasis on continual improvement, and you will perform periodic reviews of the therapy services offered and develop new services and programs to meet the needs of our changing environment. At a more strategic level, you will network and develop relationships outside of your facility (i.e. with the local hospitals and referral sites).

Required experience and qualifications:

Graduate of an approved curriculum in Physical or Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology

Ability to practice unencumbered.

In good standing with all regulatory agencies and licensing boards

Possesses a minimum of three (3) years clinical experience as a therapist

Working knowledge of Medicare and other payer sources

Full knowledge of residentÂ’s rights

Patient care advocate.
